Born into an artistic family, Darcy Vasudev began painting at the age of two. She first noticed henna in an old issue of National geographic, and, disappointed that the henna recipes were not described, began her own experiments, many of which failed. Luckily, a Moroccan friend invited Darcy for a magical night of plum Tajine, honeyed sweets, cardamom scented coffee, and of course Moroccan style henna. Darcy went home late that night with an impressively decorated  foot, and a packet of fresh henna powder, and soon thereafter began hennaing any friends and relatives that would sit still. She has since developed her own techniques and “secret family recipe”.  The search for a body art quality henna also led Darcy to begin importing fresh henna directly from Rajasthan. Now she has a full line of body art goodies, including henna for body art, natural hair-coloring supplies, jagua, and glitter!

After dabbling for years, Henna Lounge was finally born in 2005, when Darcy turned her passion for the arts into her “day job”. Darcy's favorite thing to do is create custom designs for private appointments and photoshoots.  When Darcy isn’t drawing on people and shipping orders, she can be found traveling, salsa dancing, eating spicy food, sewing costumes for Burning Man, or looking for the holy grail of parking spots near her home in the Mission.
